NIAGARA FALLS

 

For business trip to Toronto last September, I drove from home about 475 miles (765km) distance.
On the way back home I stopped by Canadian side of Niagara Falls that I heard

better view than American side.

Once we found the parking lot we started walking toward the falls in clear, bright, and sunny day.
From 100 yards away we could see and feel drizzling rain with wind as presented different weather

exist in surrounding area.
As we approach to the falls we opened big umbrella (fortunately we brought with us)

and saw thousands tourist walking around.
Once we joined with crowd the panoramic view stretches in background that partially seen

from American side.

신비의 나이가라~
때는 1980년 겨울.
버펄로 대학 UB 다니던 시절.
우리 일행은 작은 세비차 Chevy에 6명이 갔었죠.
도착하니 동이 트기 시작 했습니다.
나이가라 주위는 더 추웠습니다.
차에서 내리니 아무도 없었습니다.
눈이 소복이 쌓여 아름다운 겨울의 풍경이 보였습니다.
우리 일행은 사진을 찍기 시작했고 추위에 포즈 취하느라
떨리는 입술을 웃는 얼굴로 한다고 힘이 들었습니다.
반쯤 찍었을때 일출과 동시에 온 세상이 눈위에
유리로 덮인것 처럼 햇빛에 반사되어 모든것이
번쩍번쩍 빛나는 신비한 겨울의 동화 세계 였습니다. 
지금까지도 신비한 겨울의 동화세계 나이가라 만 한데를 못 보았습니다..

The American Falls and small to the right is the Bridal Veil Falls.

 

Horseshoe Falls and  boat, looked small, can carry 600 passengers.

 

 

 

When I was college student at University of Buffalo, I was able to visit Niagara Falls

several times over the years (only half an hour driving distance).
One early morning before dawn in the middle of winter all six of us packed into

small Chevy headed to fall.
When we got there, the whole surrounding area is so peaceful covered with snow 

and nobody in sight.
When sunrise over the horizon, the whole surrounding area start radiating

and sparkling by water vapor rise from the falls land in like coated with glass.
We were in splendid scenery of winter landscape that reflect of winter wonderland.

We decided to take pictures.
We were posing various places like under the trees or next to bushes, sitting or standing

on the mound, etc. so it took about an hour but it was bitter cold.

Afterward we went to restaurant where inviting us with nice, warm and cozy for breakfast.
After a few days later I ask friend who had camera, like to see the pictures.

He said he forgot to put the film when he took pictures at the fall.
Ever since then whenever I go to falls I remember best winter scenery

and yet no proof that lingering in my memory.

Best experience for Niagara Falls ride the boat (provide rain poncho) that carry about

600 passengers to near Horseshoe Falls.
Thunderous down pouring water (600,000 gallons per second or over 4 million liters)

seem to be falling from sky with raging current.

Niagara Falls is the collective name for three waterfalls that straddle the international border between Canada

and the United States; more specifically, between the province of ontario and the state of New York.

They form the southern end of the Niagara Gorge.
From largest to smallest, the three waterfalls are the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls.
The Horseshoe Falls lie mostly on the Canadian side and the American Falls entirely on the American side,

separated by Goat Island.
The smaller Bridal Veil Falls are also located on the American side, separated from the other waterfalls by Luna Island.
The international boundary line was originally drawn through Horseshoe Falls in 1819, but the boundary has long been
